Vivo Eyeshadow Trio - Green with Envy

Hey!

I recently picked up this Vivo Trio whilst doing my weekly food shop (hurrah for sneaky supermarket make-up shopping!) and wanted to do a review on it!

I'm a sucker for green eyeshadows! So when I swatched these instore this was swiftly popped in my basket!

The packaging is basic; black, fairly study and wipe clean. There are little 'peep-holes' so you can see the colours without opening the packaging which is handy!

The shadows themselves are great quality. The shades are pigmented and smooth to apply. They are also not too soft in the pan and I haven't experienced much fall-out with these either. I also love the selection of colours; a soft sage green, a darker leafy green and a blackened dark green.

I personally haven't followed in instructions given on the packaging as to the placement of the colours (which suggests using the sage green on your brow bone?!?!). I can see what they've tried to do...but it doesn't really work...

Anywhoo apart from that I really like this trio and can see many different combinations on my eyes!

Here is a quick look I did yesterday. I basically used the lightest green all over the lid and a teeny bit of the dark green on the outer corner..nothing too fancy for a Sunday afternoon! :)

Hello all!

So believe it or not I'm off out to play darts with Darren...I'm just a beginner but he bought some lovely pink darts for Christmas so we are off out for a few games! Here is a few pictures that I quickly snapped of my make up!

I dug out my un-used Sleek Curaçao palette and the bright blue and purple immediately stood out! It looks much more vivid in person!

Monday Manicure

I've been slacking on the blog front...I have so many ideas but no time to write them and no daylight to take half-decent pictures! I want to do my top products of 2011 next, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Anywhoo, I'm here today with my Monday Manicure, this will be a sporadic feature on my blog. I tend to paint my nails on a Sunday night ready for work on Monday so I thought I'd share them with you!

This Monday I'm wearing Nails Inc Oxford Circus - a light pink cream with Deborah Lipmann's Candy Shop - a milky pink with multi coloured and multi sized glitter over the top. It's so inappropriate for the workplace but it makes me happy when I look at it!

Here's a close-up using my trusty iPhone camera! Slightly blurry but you can see all the lovely glittery bits!

It kinda reminds me of those donuts that Homer Simpson loves...

Glitter Tips!

Well, we are right slap bang in the middle of the party season and this is all the excuse I need to crack out the glitter nail polishes! There is nothing more festive than a bit of nail bling! It can all turn a bit nasty when it comes to removing it though...it's like it's welded onto your nails and I make a right mess!

So I got to thinking...maybe I could have a bit of glitter on my nails which is relatively painless to remove and that's when I came up with this!

It's a kind of glitter tip French manicure of sorts! I basically just freehand painted the tips with a glitter polish (the best technique is to kind of carefully blob it onto the tips) and then painted with a couple if good coats of topcoat. This way, my poor nails get a bit of a break and the removal is a bit easier than having all ten nails fully coated with glitter polish!

I must admit I can't stop looking at them and am already eyeing up my glitter polish stash to see what colour is next...I'm thinking red glitter!

Have you tried this? And do you have any tips for glitter polish removal?!!

FOTN - Sumptuous Olive

I hope you are all having a nice weekend! We are just heading out to the pub for a wee drinkie so I thought i'd quickly post up my made-up face for you all to see! I bought MAC's Sumptuous Olive eyeshadow the other week and haven't really used it so decided tonight was the night! I paired it with a dark brown and black in the crease from the 99 original palette! Here are some snaps!

Tutorial: Easy Smokey Look

Bourjois Little Round Eyeshadow Pot - Shade 03 FOTN

Hello lovelies!

Back with a quick post to rave about this eyeshadow I just bought! I'm not usually a fan of bourjois eyeshadows..they always lacked in pigmentation. However, I swatches this amazing indigo blue colour yesterday and it was super soft and insanely pigmented so it went in the basket immediately!

I did try and use this shadow just with a primer underneath (UDPP) however it went on a bit patchy.. Not to be outdone, I whipped out my Gosh Shadow Primer stick, which is basically a pearlescent cream shadow. I then pressed the blue over the top and OMG! I was impressed! Here are a couple of photos. They are taken at night, so the lighting ain't ideal but hopefully you can see the prettiness!

Have you tried these eyeshadows? Do you have any recommendations?

I have a huge amount of make up..it's quite obscene really! So in an attempt to use some of the pretty things I am gonna try and post more FOTD's! Now, I thought this would be as simple as slapping it on and getting my camera, snapping a couple of shots and voila!

...not so! The Scottish weather was not co-operating this morning and instead of the clear daylight I sought, it was rainy and dark! Typical! Also my camera battery decided to die on me so I'm afraid I had to revert to my iPhone..I promise I will be more organized in future!

Review: Shellac Nails and DIY Removal

Hola lovely people!!

For my week in the sun in the Costa del Sol in Spain I decided to try Shellac Nails. Usually nail polish doesn't last too long on me before wearing on the tips and generally looking a bit dull, so I decided the gel formula of Shellac would be ideal. It boasts a long-wearing formula which is painted on the nails like a regular nail polish but then cured under a UV lamp, leaving a glossy finish. I went for the shade Tropix, which, in he bottle looked like a punchy bright orangey-coral. In reality on my nails it was a slightly lighter pinky-coral which I actually preferred to the bottle colour! It lasted well over the week, with only a couple of peeling issues at the tips, which I accredited to my already peeling nails! I also noticed some slight tip wear, but compared to conventional nail polish this was minimal. You'll see from the picture how much my nails grew in just 1 week!

Ugh! Please excuse the lighting in this picture! Looks like I have some serious oompa-loompa hands!

So, now that i've swapped the 30degree heat for the rather chillier Scottish climate and the pool for my desk I thought it was time to remove the Shellac *sad face*. My previous experience with gel nails has involved me peeling the gel from my nails...very bad for the nails but oh-so-satisfying! A quick Google search on removing Shellac taught me the following method, and I thought I would share it with you!

What You'll Need:
Aluminium Foil - cut into strips/squares enough to wrap around each nail fully
Cotton wool balls/pads - cut or torn roughly the same size as the nail
Acetone or nail polish remover containing acetone
OPI Nail Envy - to condition and strenghten the nails afterwards
Hand Cream

Begin by cutting/tearing the foil and cotton wool/pads to size. You may also want to protect your work surface from damage or acetone spillages! Next you want to saturate the cotton wool in your acetone remover and place over the nail.

Then, wrap a piece of foil round the nail, covering the whole tip of the nail. Repeat x 9 :)

After about 10 minutes, apply pressure to the cotton and drag away from the nail. The remover should have removed most, if not all of the Shellac. While the gel is softened, gently remove any remnants with an orange stick.

Once the Shellac is completely removed, wash hands and apply OPI Nail Envy (or similar) to the nails to re-hydrate and condition them and finish off with some hand cream.

Quick nails post..

Ok so my flight hasn't been called yet so I thought I'd show you my nails! They are painted with Ciate 'My Fair lady', a freebit from Marie Claire. The polish is very sheer but buildable and applied very well with no streaking or bald patches (if you know what I mean?! Haha)

It's a pretty colour but I reckon it gets a bit 'lost' on my nails and doesn't have that much of an impact? Still..it's a pretty colour!

Speedy Airport Haul

I'm at Edinburgh airport waiting to board a flight to Birmingham to see my boyfriend..and couldn't resist the gravitational pull of the duty free MAC! So I snapped up a Warm Soul Mineralised Blush and a MAC Make Up Lesson in Smoky Brown! Hastily snapped pics below!

The palette contains Sable, Showstopper and Retrospeck eyeshadows, 2 mini brushes, a mini technakohl liner and a mini Zoom Lash Mascara!! Look at those cute little brushes! Hopefully I can depot these bad boys too! Oh how I love duty free MAC! it almost makes the fear of going on a plane worthwhile!

Better go! Flights been called! :S

Quick Review - elf Studio Conditioning Lip Balm SPF15

Can you believe it?! After what feels like a lifetime I'm blogging again! I kinda became a bit disheartened with blogging/YouTube and took an unscheduled break! But recently I've been catching up on my blogs and watching some YouTube videos and I'm ready to get stuck back in *rolls up sleeves*

I placed an elf order while they had their 50% off code on orders of £30 or more and picked up a few things I've been lusting after!

I picked up the elf Studio Conditioning Lip Balm SPF15 in the shade Nice and Natural, which looks on the website like a lovely nude colour.

Here is a quick picture I snapped on my iPhone

As you might be able to see the actual colour is slightly more pinky/brown and a touch darker than the swatch on the website.

I was pleasantly surprised with the pigmentation of this balm, which is the perfect semi-opaque my-lips-but-better colour on me. It contains vitamins A and E which, google informs me, are beneficial for healthy skin. It also contains mineral oil, which some sources suggest isn't an effective moisturiser, but I'm willing to overlook that since it's such a pretty colour and texture! I like that it is a flat colour with no shimmer and its very wearable..in fact it's the only thing I've worn on my lips since I got it!

Sorry for my lack of posts I just haven't had a spare minute!

Just a quick post to say that I will be appearing (briefly) on BBC1 on Monday 2nd August at 10.30pm on a programme called 'Gears and Tears'. Some if you may know that I'm into Stock Car Racing (which couldn't be further removed from mascara and lipgloss!) and my friend and I were interviewed as part if the programme! The programme basically follows 2 rival stock car families throughout a season if racing. I really think it will appeal to everyone as it is more an insight into the 2 families and not just race footage (cue bitchy wives, building tension, humour and tears..)! Who knows, it might even inspire you to seek out your local track and watch the racing in the flesh - if only to check out the hit men in tight racing overalls (or is that just me?!)

Anyway, I really hope you can tune in for my 10 seconds of fame! Tell your hubbys, dads, uncles, brothers, friends and neighbours as it's gonna be a cracking bit of telly not to be missed! Then you'll know what I get up to at the weekends! :D

Kosmea Revitilising Facial Serum Review

I have been sent some products from mypure.co.uk to try out. I am really excited as I love to try new stuff! I don't know about you, but long-winded reviews bore me to tears! I will try to standarise these reviews as much as possible to give you the info you need without sending you to sleep!

Kosmea Eighth Natural Wonder Revitilising Serum 10ml £25.00

I wanted to give the most effective review on this so when I suggested my mum try it out, she pretty much snatched it out of my hands and ran off with it! I took that as a yes! This is pretty much her word-for-word review...so here goes!!

Fragrance/Packaging/Consistency
The scent is a fresh, lime-y sweet fragrance which is very pleasant and not at all overpowering. The packaging is functional and includes a pump which dispenses the right amount of product so there is little wastage. The consistency of this serum is an opaque white gel-cream.

Usage
I used one pump of this morning and night. It is very moisturising without being tacky and sank right into my skin with no residue.

Results
Although I didn't see a dramatic difference in the amount of wrinkles, this product certainly made my skin softer and seemed to improve the texture. I also felt my skin was more moisturised than it would be with my current moisturiser.

Final Thoughts
Actual words were "can they send another bottle?" :D
I would recommend this for those with more mature skin which lacks moisture or has uneven skin texture.

A'kin Pure Rose Hydrating Mist

Consistency/Fragrance/Packaging:
The consistency is a liquid which does not feel greasy or oily and is readily absorbed into the skin. The fragrance is primarily rose, however it is not heavy or overbearing. The packaging is very simplistic and comes with a spray.

Results/Usage:
I have used this in a variety of ways. Firstly as a facial/body spray throughout the day to cool and reresh the skin. I have decanted some of the product into a smaller spray bottle and keep it at work as my office gets very hot. I have also used it to set my foundation and it gives a natural, dewy glow. I have also used it as a toner, spritzed onto cotton pads. I found that this leaves my skin calmed and lightly hydrated.

Final Thoughts:
I have really enjoyed using this product! I am impressed by the way it boft softens and gently hydrates the skin, without being oily or greasy. A couple of sprays are generally enough and therefore I think that this product would last a while. I would recommend this for all skin types and would repurchase this product.

Lovea Shine Shampoo Review

Shine Shampoo with Argan oil from Morocco LOVEA BIO shine shampoo, brings health and vitality to dull, lifeless hair.

Consistency/Fragrance:
This shampoo has a clear, quite runny consistency. I have fairly oily hair and found that upon first application there wasn't much of a lather. It has a light citrusy scent which is very pleasant and not overpowering.

Results:
I used this shampoo over a period of 2 weeks. I shampoo my hair twice and then follow with conditioner. This product left my hair feeling clean but I was also able to run my fingers through my wet hair which I could not do with my regular shampoo. s a result I felt I needed less conditioner.

When I styled my hair I did find that appeared generally more shiny. I did feel that my hair got oily quicker with this shampoo.

Final Thoughts:
I like the concept of this product and the fact that it contains Argan Oil which seems to be a very popular ingredient at the moment. I would not neccessarily say this shampoo would be best suited to someone with oily hair however I will continue to use this once a month for a 'shine boost' treat for my hair. In my opinion, this would be best suited to those with normal to dry or heat-frazzled hair.

Beauty Blender Review & Demo

I bought the Beauty Blender about a month ago now.

At first I thought it was 'just okay' - I didn't get an amazing finish like everyone raved about. But it turns out I wasn't soaking the sponge fully before applying. I think I thought that if the sponge was completely damp I would get a sheerer (is that a word?) coverage. But I was pleasantly surprised and I even seem to use less product now which is surprising as it is essentially a sponge!

YSL Teint Resist Foundation For Sale

I bought the YSL Teint Resist Foundation and when I got it home and slapped it on I realised it was too light for me! Loved the finish (mostly matte with a bit of dewiness) and the coverage (medium - buildable). It also has a pump!

It has been used once. I am selling for £20.00 - it retails for £28.00+ online so I think thats a bit of a bargain! It comes with the box! It is Shade 5 which is probably a shade lighter than I am at the moment - NC25-30 in MAC.

Here's what boots.com says about it:

The luminous, transfer-resistant formula forms perfectly to the skin for a soft and seamless result. The complexion is preserved from feelings of discomfort or tightening, remaining supple and silky-smooth from the morning through to night. Skin MD Natural Sheilding Lotion Review

So, before Christmas I was contacted by 21st Century Formulations to ask if I would like to try their Shielding Lotion. Of course I said yes! I have been trying it for the past 6 weeks and felt ready to give you the lowdown...

The cold winter Scottish weather plays havoc on my skin, while my face remains oily to combination, the rest of my body becomes dry and flaky!

My specific problem area are my shins which, for some reason, become very scaly and itchy. When I first applied the lotion, I was pleasantly surprised, it was not at all heavy or greasy and quickly absorbed into my skin.

The one thing I would say is that I didn't feel the initial relief once I applied this lotion, there was still some scaliness and itchiness, but after using it over a period of 3 to 4 days there was a marked improvement to the skin quality.

The size of bottle I was sent is 120ml, and I have been keeping it in my handbag as it is just the right size.

This product also contains dimethicone, which is also in many of the popular face primers. From what I can gather, it's what gives the silky, velvety effect to skin. With that in mind, I have also used this as a face primer/moisturiser combo and have to say it held up pretty well! Plus, combining 2 steps in my morning routine is always a winner!

Would I reccomend?

Yes, I would. It's a great product for tackling dry skin and protecting from harsh winter weather. Don't expect immediate results, but persevere with it! Also, great for use as a face primer and facial moisturiser in one!

First off, I have been sorely neglecting this blog! I was feeling a bit uninspired of late, with blogs and YT channels becoming more like advertisements than anything else...but that's a whole other blog post!

I had a lightbulb moment!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I often am overwhelmed by my make-up collection! I buy things with the best of intentions and they end up languishing in the back of a drawer. It's not that I don't need those items, I just don't have enough time to choose them in my morning rush! I'm not a morning person and am always running late, and tend to use whatever is closest to hand, which usually results in a random selection of items and the result isn't always pretty!

So, I had an idea!

Basically, once a week I am going to fill my weekly beauty basket with all of the items that I am going to wear for the week. I am hoping that this will have 2 positive outcomes.

1. Less time spent in the morning rooting around my make-up drawers wondering what to use = more time in bed and/or not being late all the time
2. Using up some of the lovely things I have accumulated = sense of satisfaction that i've not wasted a ton of money on things which sit prettily in drawers!

Talika Lipocils Review

Ipicked up this product around 2 months ago, and wanted to let you know my thoughts on it.

I purchased this from HQHair and it cost £12.50 for 4.2ml. A 10ml tube is also vailable priced at £20.00

The first thing I noticed about this product was the size, it was smaler than I expected. I would imagine that the 10ml tube is around the same size as a standard mascara tube. Here is my wee tube alongside Rimmel Extra Super Lash and Loreal Lash Explosion Mascaras

Lipocils is on the left!

What HQHair says: "In normal conditions, our lashes never reach their maximum length: they fall out, they become brittle and break because of pollution, use of make-up and make-up removers, etc.

Right, so that's the science bit. Now, what did I make of it?

To start with, I had fairly long lashes but they lacked strength and thickness. After using this product for the last few months I have visably noticed a difference in the length, condition and amount of lashes I now have! Unfortunately, I don't have before pictures, so you'll have to take my word on the outcome! Here's a picture of my lashes now. No mascara!

I had low expectations of this product and was well and truly blown away with the results! Most other eyelash growth products on the market are up to 5 or 6 times this price of this little gem. I personally wouldn't pay for one of the more expensive products, as having long eyelashes isn't at the top of my beauty agenda (what??! lol) but for the price, even if all it did was condition my eyelashes, it's £12.50 well spent in my opinion!

Alright, so I know this is a make-up blog, but variety is the spice of life...or so they say!

As you will probably be aware, I fit into the 'plus size' (Grrr I hate that phrase!) clothing category. Hopefully not for much longer and i'll get my butt in gear with this Weight Watchers malarkey! Until then, I still want to look good. No, I don't want to wear sack-like clothes and no, I don't want my big old chunky legs in a mini skirt...I do think there is a middle ground. Here are some thing i'm loving recently!

First up is this beautiful dress by Anna Sholz for Simply Be. I think it would be prefect for summer weddings or special occassions. I love it because it a. So I have completely been slacking on the blogging front! The thing is, I have lots to blog about, just no time to do it! We have been experiencing a bit of a heatwave in Scotland at the moment, which is rare! When it does happen, everyone wants to sit around in front of fans and not do much else (or maybe that's just me?!)

A few weeks ago a took a trip into Glasgow, with the view to picking up some MAC Style Warriors goodies. I experienced the usual 'excited-tummy' feeling upon entering but after wandering around for a good 15 minutes, I came out empty handed. Concerned, I quickly headed for SpaceNK but alas after another 10 minutes spent swatching every product in the place, I came out sans pretty white SpaceNK bag filled with goodies. I was starting to panic! Had I lost my make-up mojo?!

In a last ditch attempt to kick start my addiction, I headed to the Debenhams beauty hall and made a beeline for the Illamasqua counter. I was presented with rows upon rows of the most beautiful eyeshadows, blushes, lip and nail products. I was greeted by Natalie, who works on the counter. She has the skin of skin every girl would be jealous of; the colour of caramel and not a flaw in sight! She was also super nice and remembered me from the first time i'd gone in, not long after they opened in Glasgow! I was being drawn to all the pretty blushes so explained that i'd like to try one which gave me a fresh, rosy colour. Natalie asked if I had any colour preference, to which I responded that i'd perhaps like a peach colour. She picked out 2 for me to try, Lover, a pretty peachy apricot shade and Hussy, a gorgeous vibrant pink shade - neither of which I had anything like in my current make-up stash!

She asked if i'd like to try them and sat me down. She applied the first, Lover, and I thought it was very pretty on. Then she tried Hussy, and I also thought it was lovely. In the end, being a Libran and completely lacking in the ability to make decisions, I bought both! She also complimented me on my eye make-up (I had used the Pur Minerals palette) which was very sweet of her! She then tried on one of their pure pigments on my eyes, it was a light green colour, and very pretty! Then she used Mistress lipgloss, mixed with a bit of clear gloss! One word, GORGEOUS! Both products are now firmly placed on my Illamasqua wish list, which is growing daily!!

I have not stopped using these blushes since getting them. I use one or the other, and sometimes I mix them, because i'm like that! They are incredibly finely milled and blend with hardly any effort. The colour payoff is incredible, you need the tiniest amount on a brush (and that's coming from someone who's a bit of a blush addict and doesn't know when to stop!). The packaging is also very stylish, which is a bonus!

So, thanks to Illamasqua for re-igniting my make-up passion! And thanks to Natalie at the Glasgow counter for being so nice! I gave her my blog and YouTube address, so maybe she is even reading this! I will definitely be back!

What made you choose your blog/twitter/youtube username?
Way back when I started using the internet, I wanted to pick a username for my email which would reflect the fact that i'm Scottish (i'm very proud to be!), so I came up with Scotlass99. In Scotland, a lassie is a girl, and 1999 was when I registed my email. Soooo, when I started watching YouTube videos, I only created the account so I could favourite videos and stuff, had I known that I would start making YouTube videos, I would have picked a more beauty-related username!

Apart from the obvious make up / beauty hobby, what other hobbies do you have?
I love being creative, making jewellery, cards and making up scrapbooks! I made a promise to myself that I would make a scrapbook of every holiday Brian and I go on, so that I don't forget all the great things that we've done or the funny stories along the way! It's much nicer to look back on! Plus it's very theraputic!

What do you do?
I work in the public sector in a department which deals with people who have mild to moderate mental health issues.

What would you like to do?
I would love to be doing something creative. Obviously something make-up related would be my ideal job, and i'd love to have my own successful make-up range! Imagine deciding on the colours, packagin and advertising, that would be Heaven!

Tell us something embarrassing, but that you love doing?
I like bingo. There. I said it. Once Brian and I won £320 in one night!

Tell us a little something that we don't already know about you.
I am a complete motorsports nut! Every Saturday night from March to November is taken up with me going to watch Stock Car Racing. My parents first took me as a young baby and once I got my first whiff of petrol fumes, I was hooked! It's a great social event, and there are some HAWT drivers..take a look!

What achievement are you most proud of?
I was proud when I came 1st in the motorsport event that I took part in, if that counts!

Whats the product? GOSH Nail Lacquer in Wild Lilac

How much is it? £4.89

Where can I get my hands on it? Superdrug stores nationwide

Whats so great about it? It is the most beautiful dusty lilac colour. It's right slap bang inbetween being a pastel and a bright. It is also an amazing consistency, needing only one coat to become totally opaque! It's very wearable for the workplace/school etc

Weight Loss: Week 1 Roundup

So, I have decided that this is it, I cannot put off losing weight any longer. I keep procrastinating and stalling it, but the fact of the matter is i'm not getting any thinner! So, I joined Weight Watchers.

This week I lost 2 1/2 pounds. I was a smidgen dissapointed with this as usually in your first week you have this big weight loss and it boosts your motivation. But, I can't be dismissive of those 2 1/2 pounds, because it's a step (albeit a teensy one) in the right direction. So goodbye 2 1/2 pounds, hope I never see you again!

Mini Goal for Week 2: Get off your butt and do more exercise. Usually, taking Holly out consists of walking across the road to the park and throwing a ball for her, which is great exercise for her, but not for me.

MAC Palettes. Got one this week and then depotted all my shadows (well, all 9 of them!) Loves it!
Miss Sporty Nail polishes. I got them on offer, 3 for 2, and they are great quality for being so cheap. In particular I love Salsa, which is a hot red-coral - the perfect Summer colour!
Make Up Buying Amnesty. For the next month or so i'm going to try not to buy any make-up. It will be very difficult! I sat and looked through all of my make-up and put in a box all of the products I haven't used yet...the box was overflowing...

Going Down

YouTube Drama. There seems to be a lot of bitching going on in YT at the moment. It is totally un-neccessary. Please stop!
Thinking I had bought the light green Barry M nail polish that looks like MAC Peppermint Pattie, then realising it was the wrong one! I wanted 304, I got 290! Argh!
Sunburn. Sat out on Sunday and came in to discover my skin was an unflattering shade of red. In my (weak) defence, we don't see the sun a lot in Scotland, so when it does come out, we tend to go a bit OTT..it's in the genes!

Spice Girls Contest Entry

Whit is having a Spice Girls-themed contest! I did a bit of a search on Google Images as I love Emma B's make-up, she always looks stunning. I found lots of images but in all the pictures, she has very natural make-up on! I stumbled across this picture and decided to give it a go!

Here are the products I used, the colours I used from the palettes are outlined in orange!And here is the finished look! The pics aren't great at showing the colours since I was doing this at night and had no natural light. It looks kinda silver and black when in reality I used MAC Dazzlelight for the inner corners, which is a beige highlight colour!

X-Weighted Obsession/My Own Weightloss Journey Begins...

I stumbled across this programme called X-Weighted a couple of years back, and I loved the format of it and found it very motivating! Much to my utter joy, I found out they had a new series being shown on Sky Real Lives channel. Basically it features a new person every episode, and begins with a bit of their background. Then, Paul turns up (usually in shorts or a lycra top of some description)

So, in this picture, his outfit isn't particularly body-hugging, but it is usually!!

Paul measures their body and weighs them then they are whisked off to do the fitness test! So they puff and pant to the finish line, after bunny-hops, tyre-flips and numerous stand up-lie downs! (I'm outta breath just watching those poor souls!). Then, Paul goes round to their house with a big ol' bin bag and basically throws the entire contents of their fridge, freezer and cupboards in it! It then follows that person in their weightloss journey i.e. early morning gym trips, personal trainer sessions, aerobics classes etc etc. Then some funky music comes on and that signalls the arrival of Fred, who in the early series was a hairstylist, but is now a self-esteem expert?! He comes along and does some wardrobe cleansing, as well as offering some self-esteem advice i.e. positive thinking, and more cliches than you could shake a stick at!

At the 3 month point, the person does a mid-point weigh in. It's all smoky and atmospheric as the person walks slowly towards the scales! They usually set themselves a high weightloss goal, 60+ pounds over a 6-month period, so this is the tell-tale point to see if the pounds are coming off! Needless to say, most are disapointed but Paul gives them a little pep-talk and they are off again!

It's more footage of their journey, where you start to see their lives being turned around and their waists shrinking! Tonight's episode featured a girl whose goal was to climb the CN Tower (all 1779 steps!) so Paul took her to Niagara Falls (with me shouting at the TV "been there!", "saw that!") and told her they would be climbing up a smaller tower. She really struggled and I wasn't sure if she would manage the CN Tower! But, to my amazement, she did it!

At the end of the programme, they do a final weigh-in and measurments, with teary-eyed loved ones standing alongside. Then they do a before and after shot, and there's always a noticeable improvement!

Then it's back to improve upon the fitness test, which they always do! Then cue more funky music, on comes Fred and transforms them into a glamourpuss!

I LOVE it! If you haven't seen it, it's on Sky Real Lives in the UK, and probably available in the US/Canada (where it's made) too!

Sorry for the random post, but I had to share!

So I was browsing Google Reader and came across Laura's blog. She had responded to a Tag of celebrity men you have a crush on and, in particular, ones that are embarrassing, shameful and just downright wrong! I have a fair few, so here goes...

Donal MacIntyre. So not typically a hunk, but the sight of him flexing his muscles in those tight, rhinestone-spangled outfits of Dancing on Ice made me go weak at the knees!

Owen Wilson. So, Owen isn't exactly the hottest crumpet in the..err..bread bin?! But he has a witty, dry sense of humour, which is very appealing in a man!

Robert DeNiro. Right, so he is getting on a bit, but I reckon he oozes sex-appeal!

Richard Gere. In the film An Officer and a Gentleman, he wears this tight white naval uniform, and he is a serious hottie! I couldn't find any pictures to show this, but here is a video clip of the film. Ooooft!

Alan Dale. Okay, so in my youth, Alan Dale was better known as Jim Robinson in Neighbours. But age has really agreed with him and in Lost he is a hot baddie!

Right, so this is my latest obsession! It makes my computer incredibly slow but I just don't care because this is the coolest thing since sliced bread! Lol

Basically, you upload a picture of you with your hair tied up and then you can put foundation, blush, eyeshadow...allsorts on your face. The good thing about it is that it's all actual products, so you can try out all those colours you've been coveting to see if they really do look fab on you!

I have been using Tri Enzyme Resurfacing Serum and Resurfacing Night Cream for over 3 months and I thought this may be a good time to give you a review on it. As always, this is just my opinion. What works for my skin may not work for yours.

It retails on the timetospa website for £95 for 30ml, which is a huge investment to make. However, you can be a savvy shopper and pick up a bargain on eBay - I picked up mine for around £40 for 30ml, much kinder on the wallet! Basically you apply it to clean skin, before moisturiser, day and night.

After the first week of using the product, I noticed my skin was remarkably softer, with less flakiness. After using the product for around 3 weeks, I noticed that the thickening of my skin, especially on the areas with acne scaring, seemed to be softening and looking generally smoother.

At around 4 weeks useage, I purchased the Tri Enzyme Resurfacing Night Cream which compliments the serum.

The Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Night Cream stimulates the skin's natural cell renewal cycle, actively smoothing and enhancing the skin whilst cellular respiration is at its optimum during sleep. I am always cautious about creams as I worry that they will clog my pores and cause further breakouts. However, this cream was easily absorbed into my skin and I had no negative effects. It retails for around £85 which again is fairly pricey so I would suggest scouring eBay for bargains!

So, i'm very much a results-driven person and although I could feel my skin was improved through using these products, I wanted to know for sure that my skin was benefiting. Luckily, Elemis have what they call Skin Lab, where they basically take various pictures of your skin in different lighting. These images are then analysed by the computer and a report is produced outlining major skin concerns such as spots, wrinkles, age spots and texture. This report is then saved and it can be used as a comparison in the future.

My reports are below...

As you can see, after around 3 months (I began using the products at the beginning of November) I have experienced a great improvemtn in my skin. It is by no means perfect, but it's great progress.

In summary, I would recommend this product to anyone who has acne scarring. I do not think this is suitable for those with active acne. However, if your acne is all but gone like mine, and has left behind the ugly scarring, then i'd suggest to give this a try. However, it is a fairly hefty strain on the pocket, so i'd suggest getting some sample sizes from eBay and trying them out first to see if they will work for you.

Elemis has such a huge range of fantastic products, which are all-natural. My next must-purchase items will be the Papya Enzyme Peel and Herbal Lavender Repair Mask!

Bright colourful look!

So I got home on Friday from work, it had been very busy and stressful and I was ready just to veg out on the sofa. But I decided to quickly check my e-mail and noticed I had an email from Gemma at Spell Cosmetics. I had placed an order at lunchtime and he said I should check out one of their new videos. So, to cut a long story short, I had won a prize in a random draw of orders placed! I am so excited about my order, I cannot wait for it to arrive!

This really lifted my mood and I decided to go ahead and do a wild and crazy colourful look to celebrate!

Hair History

So, i've jumped on the 'hair history' blog bandwagon. Here goes...

Unsure of the date. Probably 2000/2001. These were my pre-GHD days! Natural colour, shoulder-length with lots of layers!

May 2006. Probably the shortest my hair has been. Here it is my natural colour. I have no make-up on in this picture and it is scaring me!

August 2006. A bir longer with highlights, I like my hair here..
This is June 2008. I discoverd my straighteners were pretty much useless in the US because of voltage differences so I wore my hair curly the whole holiday. It was liberating! Here I went a bit lighter brown and I want to go back to this colour but my hairdresser says I can't...November 2008. Some loose waves and even lighter brown. Growing my hair long for June 2009.
December 2008. Extensions in! Want my hair to be this colour again!!
January 2009. Fringe and dark brown (to disguise the greys!!)

I was lucky enough to track down some NYX in 2 different shops in the one shopping centre! I was like a kid in a candy store, I didn't know what to buy (or should that be what not to buy!). They didn't have my first most-wanted item, NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk, although they did have them in lots of other colours! So after about 20 minutes of lifting every product and trying it on my hand (I got lots of funny looks from the sales assistants!) I finally got...

I wish they'd had Morocco single shadow, but they didn't...oh well..maybe next time!

As well as that, I went into another discount beauty shop and they have lots of Armani shadows. But they were all samples, like the kind of thing you'd see in the display! I don't know if this shop buys these from Armani or what but they were only £1 each! So I got one, which doesn't have a colour name, but it's a dark indigo blue with tiny hot pink glitter..it's gorgeous!!

I also picked up a Hard Candy Candy Coating Sparkling Lip Gloss (is that the longest product name in Lip Gloss history?!) in Jellybean. It's a gorgeous colour, but it smells funky! I think it's meant to be Chocolate scented, but it makes me gag everytime I smell it so I don't think i'll be using it! It cost £1.95 so it's no biggie..
